In 2011 MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), the racing division of MSV, announced the launch of a new single seater series - the F3 Cup. After a successful inaugural season MSVR are delighted to announce that the F3 Cup has been awarded outline approval by the MSA for full Championship status in 2012 as part of the series' expansion plans.
The F3 Cup caters for Formula 3 chassis built after 1980 and before 2008, with a race calendar consisting of the leading UK circuits. The 2012 calendar once again features the most prestigious UK circuits such as Brands Hatch GP, Snetterton 300, Oulton Park, Donington Park and a trip to the legendary Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
The budget required for a full season in the F3 Cup is a lot less than you might think:
- Budgets range from £15,000 for a self-run Class 'A' car, to £40,000 for a fully supported arrive and drive deal with a team. The Class 'B' winning car from 2010 was professionally run for £25,000
- Eligible F3 cars are available to purchase from £12,000 - £40,000. The series consists of 3 classes to cover cars from 1981-2004
- Engine rebuilds are typically £7,000 - £8,000 and would be sufficient for at least two full seasons
- Tyres are limited to one new set for each race meeting, however many drivers make a set last two or three meetings, if not more
- There is also a large network of support and advice available through existing competitors for everything to do with running the cars from set-up to spares
