Snetterton Summer Shootout

F3 Cup’s next round takes in the fast, technical challenge of Snetterton’s 300 Circuit

A new championship leader emerged after a busy day at Oulton Park in July, as Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR)’s Cian Carey picked up a win and a second place to jump to the top of the points table. The University of Wolverhampton Racing (UWR) squad were also victorious in Cheshire, as Shane Kelly piloted their Dallara to victory in the second race. A strong weekend overall for the team now sees Kelly in second place overall.

Erstwhile leader Stuart Wiltshire suffered a costly fire before the first race, but CF Racing pulled out all the stops to get the car ready for race two, and Wiltshire rewarded their efforts with a podium finish. The lower points haul cost him dearly though, as he lost his grip on the championship lead to now sit third in the standings.

CF Racing team mate and reigning champion Jacopo Sebastiani fared well at Oulton Park after missing the previous Silverstone round, with a podium finish in the first race. 2016 Champion George Line had a consistent weekend with a good points haul and now sits fourth in the table. Tony Bishop was absent, but returns at Snetterton and will be looking to pick up where he left off.

In the CDR camp, both Patrick Jeans and Baptiste Leonard scored well in Cheshire, building on their strong performances at Silverstone. Phillip Jeans was forced to miss the last round but is back in action this weekend.

Team Fox Racing is enjoying a strong year, with the Daly family running very well, led by Darragh who returns to the cockpit this weekend. He is joined by the returning Stephen Fitzpatrick, who was last out at Brands Hatch in May. Also returning this weekend is F3 Cup stalwart Robbie Watts, in his F308 VW Speiss for the first time this year.

Stanbridge Motorsport returns to full strength this weekend, with both Roberto Tirone and team boss James Simons in action. Tirone has featured heavily in the mid-field battles this year, while Simons has progressed well in his new F310 and will be keen to start building his points tally.
