Stuart Wiltshire returns for 2018 campaign
The first 2018 F3 Cup Championship driver to be announced is the returning Stuart Wiltshire
F3 Cup is delighted to announce the first member of 2018’s exciting driver line up, in the form of returning front-runner Stuart Wiltshire.
A regular F3 Cup contender since the championship’s creation, Stuart has really found his form over the last few seasons and will be keen to make an impression again in 2018.
Campaigning his trusty Dallara F308 Mercedes HWA, Stuart enjoyed a strong season in 2017 running with CF Racing. He played a big part in securing their Teams’ Championship title last year, on his way to fifth overall in the drivers’ standings. Five podium finishes, including a second place at Snetterton, were proof of his pace, but DNFs at Silverstone National and Brands Hatch cost him in an otherwise successful year.
Stuart’s career high to date is second overall in 2015, and he hasn’t finished outside the top five since. The Essex based driver counts his first win at Spa-Francorchamps in 2016 as another peak, with the Belgian circuit being his favourite.
Stuart has enjoyed a long-running rivalry with team mate Jacopo Sebastiani, and after finishing ahead in 2015 and 2016, lost out as Jacopo clinched the title in 2017. Their rivalry is sure to continue this year, resulting in great action on track and many humorous moments in the post race podium interviews. In fact, while Stuart is often thought of as the ‘joker’ of the paddock (last year’s April Fool’s story being a prime example!) his light hearted nature should never be misread – as soon as that Mercedes engine fires up, he’s totally focused on the job in hand.
F3 Cup’s 2018 season kicks off at the revamped Donington Park circuit on 21-22 April. Regular driver announcements will be made in the lead up to the first rounds, so be sure to keep an eye on the refreshed F3 Cup website and social media channels for all the latest news.
