Chris Dittmann became the inaugural F3 Cup champion after capping a fine season with a measured drive in the final round at the Snetterton 300 circuit, in 2012.
The then 23-year-old from Tewkesbury made history by claiming the inaugural F3 Cup championship with a Trophy class victory in tricky damp conditions at the Norfolk venue. By becoming champion, he also secured a prestigious FIA Formula Two test prize.
Dittmann, who runs the Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR) team, was involved in a thrilling three-way title deciding final round with Snetterton local Tristan Cliffe and Italian Gino Ussi. He finished seventh overall and first in class to take the title in race one.
The former Ginetta racer was a regular on the podium throughout the 18 races that season, enjoying an outright race victory at Silverstone National in May, which was his season highlight. Claiming a first championship crown in motorsport is certainly a career highlight according to Chris.
Dittmann said: "It's a brilliant feeling to win the F3 Cup title. It will take a while for it to sink in. It has been a long year but for me it's been great. F3 Cup has been absolutely fantastic in 2012 and it will be even better next year. I've got to say a big thanks to everyone involved in organising it."
Since clinching the title, Dittmann has focused his energies on building and developing his CDR outfit, fielding cars in the BRDC British F3 Championship, the Duo BRDC F4 Championship and F3 Cup.
