Chris Needham wins race two in tricky conditions

04/04/2011 - Chris Needham rounds off the weekend with an excellent victory in difficult conditions

04/04/2011 - Chris Needham rounds off the weekend with an excellent victory in difficult conditions.

After a sudden downpour at the Donington Park circuit, conditions on the track were slippery and it was only the pole sitting car of Louis Hamilton-Smith who made the decision to go out on slick tyres.

The race was red flagged early on after Stuart Wiltshire went off; his car unable to be safely retrieved by the marshals. Louis Hamilton-Smith, after his decision to go out on slick tyres, found himself at the back of the grid for the restart of the race. This left Chris Needham on pole for the restart, a position which he would not relinquish for the duration of the restarted race ending up 10.025 seconds ahead of Dave Karaskas in second place.

Drying conditions meant that the track was coming to Louis Hamilton-Smith and he set about creating some excitement as he chased his way through the pack. After battling his way through the field, he took second place briefly on the last lap before out braking himself and running into the gravel. This gave Dave Karaskas a commanding second place 19.58 seconds ahead of 3rd place Neil Harrison who drove a solid race to pick up his first podium in the MSV F3 Cup.

Richard Purcell came through in fourth place less than a second behind Harrison with Class B runner James Ledamun rounding off the field in fifth place after an exciting race in difficult conditions.
