20/03/2011 - Aaron Steele capped off a perfect weekend at Snetterton by securing another dominant win in today's second MSV F3 Cup race.
Steele once again started from pole, and again made a slightly slow start, but as in the previous race managed to keep hold of his lead from Alex Craven and Chris Needham.
By the end of the first lap it was clear only one man was going to secure victory, but that didn't stop Craven and Needham from going head to head throughout the race, repeating their antics from race one.
The pair were separated by little over a second throughout the contest, while behind them Kat Impey and Matt Draper were also fighting hard over fourth. The pair were side-by-side at the end of lap two with Impey able to keep Draper behind, but Draper soon got by, passing the blue liveried car of Impey on the straight between Agostini and Hamilton corners on lap three.
While Steele continued to extend his lead, the battle for second was as intense as ever, with Needham's attempted pass on Craven into Murrays on lap seven not quite coming off. Needham tried again on the outside of Riches on lap 11, before finally edging past on the infield. Even as they started the last lap the pair were side-by-side, with Needham eventually edging the battle.
Steele though was in a class of his own, winning by over 32 seconds from Needham, and after the race Steele was unable to hide his delight at not only winning both races, but also claiming the overall lap record on the circuit during the second race; "It's been the perfect weekend, you can't get any better than that! Two wins, two pole positions, two fastest laps and a lap record. I don't think the record will last for too long, and it's a long season but so far so good!"
Technical issues arising from the first race meant a slightly smaller grid for this race, but nonetheless the MSV F3 Cup has provided two exciting races that bode well for the season ahead.
