F3 Cup returns to Norfolk this weekend

28/04/2011 - The MSV F3 Cup returns to the challenging Snetterton 300 circuit this weekend and is joined by quick local driver Alf Skeels, who will be keen to repeat the race win he gained at the end of last season.

MSV F3 Cup front runners Aaron Steele, Louis Hamilton-Smith and Chris Needham had a difficult meeting last time out at a wet Donington, with only Needham managing two podiums, including a dominant win in the rain.

Aaron Steele had a disastrous meeting at Donington and this weekend will be looking to replicate his excellent performance at the first Snetterton 300 event this season when he dominated the racing and established the outright lap record for the new circuit.

Louis Hamilton Smith took a good maiden victory at Donington, but then had a troubled second race. He will be particularly keen to measure himself against Steele this weekend.

The MSV F3 Cup, which is a new series to MSVR in 2011, again sees a quality field expected to take part this weekend. The entry will be joined by Lanan Racing's Mark Terry, who experienced a hair-raising start line accident last time at Snetterton - these cars are very fast and when something goes wrong there is very little margin for error.

Lanan Racing will also be entering two additional cars driven by Kat Impey and Alex Craven. Both Impey and Craven missed the Donington event and are warmly welcomed back to the series, as is Matt Draper in his Dallara F304 Opel Spiess with Antel Motorsport.

All but one of this weekend's entry is Dallara-mounted, the exception being James Ledamun in the sole Class B entry, the interesting TOMS 036F sponsored by TRS Harnesses.

In Class A brothers Mark and Neil Harrison are both running Toyota Xtec engines in their Magic Motorsport cars, and Mark Bailey Racing will run a car driven by Nick Robinson. His team mate Stuart Wiltshire has also entered this weekend after recovering from an injury.

Richard Purcell has his Topmarx car, and is knocking on the door of the podium, having caught a fourth place at Donington.

The MSV F3 Cup is a series of stand alone races, so Championship points are not awarded, but there will be a very valuable Formula Two test drive available to the competitor judged to be the most meritorious driver of the season. The judging panel includes MSV's Chief Executive Jonathan together with a group of experienced senior journalists and motor racing commentators.
