Louis Hamilton-Smith secures maiden victory
04/04/2011 - Louis Hamilton-Smith takes victory from his first start in the F3 Cup in race one
04/04/2011 - Race one of the MSV F3 Cup at Donington Park saw Louis Hamilton-Smith take a commanding victory in his first race in the F3 Cup yesterday (Sunday).
Problems for pole sitter Aaron Steele who stalled on the grid after spinning on the warm up lap left the field wide open for Hamilton-Smith and the rest of the field to capitalise on the opportunity.
Chris Needham took the early advantage and it wasn't until lap 7 that Hamilton-Smith was able to take the lead. There was no stopping Hamilton-Smith once he had seized the initiative and he finished the race 6.085 seconds ahead of Needham.
Dave Karaskas grabbed the last of the podium places having started from fifth on the grid. He set about making up the places early on and found himself in third place on the second lap. Karaskas fought off early challenges from Richard Purcell before bringing the car home 6.793 seconds ahead of Neil Harrison. James Ledamun brought his Class B car home in fifth place and Nick Robinson rounded up the top six.
