Steele takes pole for first MSV F3 Cup race
Pole setting time by Aaron Steele is new lap record for the new Snetterton 300 circuit
19/03/2011 - Aaron Steele has taken pole position for the first ever MSV F3 Cup race with a blistering lap time of 1:46.60, which is also a lap record for the new Snetterton 300 circuit.
Steele completed the qualifying session in his Renault Sodemo powered Dallara F302 and was delighted with the result. He said: "It's all come together nicely, the car has been stored for about two years. We had a few niggles with it yesterday but now its running OK."
"It's quite a nice feeling to be the temporary lap record holder! I don't think it will stand for too long but it's nice to know that currently I'm the fastest man to have ever driven around this new Snetterton circuit!"
"I like the new circuit, it's got a good flow to it. The new hairpin is very tight and the rest of it is very good. I think its going to create more opportunities for lunges and I think the touring cars around here will be epic and I'll definitely be watching that and recording, but it's great what they've done and a good investment and it's nice to see circuits being improved."
The next three places on the MSV F3 Cup grid for race one, in Class A, have been taken by the Lanan Racing entries of Mark Terry in second (1:49.48), Alex Craven in third (1:49.96) and Kat Impey in fourth (1:50.30).
In Class B James Ledamun qualified thirteenth overall in his Toyota powered TOMS 036F, ahead of Class A competitor Phil Moore in his Toms Toyota powered Dallara F304.
