The F3 Cup gives drivers the chance to race some of the quickest club level single seaters on the UK's premier circuits and even incorporates a visit to the legendary Belgian Spa Francorchamps circuit. All of this may make it seem like the budget needed to compete is way out or reach but it may come as a bit of a surprise to learn that it is a lot cheaper than you might think.
The budget required ranges from about £15,000 for a self run Class 'A' car to £40,000 for a fully supported arrive and drive deal with a team. The Class 'B' winning car from last year was professionally run for £25,000, a self run car could be run from as little as £9,000.
There are three classes to cover cars from 1981 until 2004 and these range in price from around £12,000 up to £40,000 for a top Class 'A' car. Engine rebuilds range from £7,000 to £8,000 and would be sufficient to last at least two full seasons before another is required.
Competitors are limited by the regulations to using one new set of tyres for each race meeting, however many competitors will make a new set of tyres last two or three meetings, if not more.
The MSV F3 Cup paddock is a wealth of knowledge containing all the information you could possibly need to do with running the cars from set-up to spares.
Phenomenal performance, great circuits, and at a cost much smaller than you might think.
