22/10/2011 - Mark Harrison claimed a surprise pole position for race one at Oulton Park, while F3 Cup debutant Tristan Cliffe will start from pole in race two - his second ever race in the series.

Harrison left it late to secure the pole position as Chris Needham held the all important position for the majority of the session after a brisk start to qualifying. Needham set the early pace with a time of 1.37.765 seconds, but in the end Harrison's ninth flying lap snatched the pole position away from the Lancashire man by 0.148 seconds.

Another surprise came in the form of debutant Tristan Cliffe, who set the third fastest time. The 2011 Monoposto 2000 champion, who is looking to join the F3 Cup for next year, will start from pole position in race two, courtesy of his second fastest lap time. Mark Terry and Dave Karaskas were fourth and fifith quickest just ahead of Kat Impey. The grid for race two was decided by drivers' second fastest times.

However, Aaron Steele, the driver who has dominated the series this season, will start from the rear of the field after suffering from gearbox issues. The session also saw Mark Bailey Racing's new Dallara F306 car take to the track with Stuart Wiltshire behind the wheel.
