Red Bull driver Da Costa prepared for Macau after F3 Cup triumph

05/11/12 - Red Bull young driver Antonio Felix Da Costa says the F3 Cup was ideal preparation for Macau GP.

05/11/12 - Red Bull young driver Antonio Felix Da Costa says he feels ready for the prestigious Macau GP after thoroughly enjoying taking two wins in the F3 Cup at Snetterton 300 on 28 October.

The highly rated 21-year-old made a guest appearance in the MSVR run championship with Carlin where he stormed to two convincing wins at the Norfolk venue. After a year away from competitive action in Formula 3, he admitted racing in the F3 Cup was ideal preparation for the Macau GP on 15-18 November.

Da Costa said: "This was the perfect situation to get ready for Macau. I was having a lot of fun out there. In the wet it is always tricky but the goal was to get as much mileage in an F3 car as possible. We will have to wait to get there to see if our pace is good but I'm confident."

Da Costa, who finished third in 2012 GP3 Championship, fitted in seamlessly with the F3 Cup paddock offering advice to the championship's regular racers. After experiencing what the F3 Cup has to offer, the Portuguese star said he was impressed by the championship.

He said: "Everyone wants to win and do well in the F3 Cup so I think it's good to have. I think it's really cool the way everyone is taking this racing seriously but also chilled out at the same time."

This week he will step into the cockpit of the Red Bull RB8 Formula One car for the F1 Young Drivers test held at the Yas Marina circuit Abu Dhabi on 6-8 November. He will then rejoin Carlin for the Macau GP.

Preparations for the 2013 F3 Cup championship are well under way with a provisional calendar to be unveiled shortly.
