28/02/2012 - Former British GT4 champion Jamie Stanley will swap sportscars for single seaters this year after confirming plans to join the 2012 F3 Cup.

The F3 Cup championship, run by MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), is set for its biggest ever grid this season and successful GT racer Stanley is the latest driver to join the growing list of competitors, ahead of the season opener at Oulton Park on Easter Monday (9 April).

The 28-year-old from Chester will join up with the experienced Lanan Racing outfit, who will also run F3 Cup regulars Kat Impey and Mark Terry this season. Despite his wealth of racing experience, this will be Stanley's first race in a Formula 3 car and the Radical UK Cup and Lotus Cup UK racer hasn't set himself any targets for the season opener. Stanley is due to compete in the Radical UK Cup and Lotus Cup UK this year.

Stanley commented: "I couldn't pass up this opportunity to race an F3 car with Lanan Racing and I'm really looking forward to racing in the F3 Cup. I'm under no illusions as to the challenge ahead as this will be the first time I have even driven an F3 car since my scholarship days in 2004. I've got a test day on the Friday which will be my first time in the car so we will see how it goes from there but it should be good fun."

The new F3 Cup season will begin in front of bumper crowd alongside the British GT Championship at Oulton Park on Easter Monday 9 April. Tickets for the meeting at Oulton Park on Easter Monday are available from £17 in advance with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
