Cliffe edges Pole Position at Zolder

Tristan Cliffe has secured pole position for the second weekend running after an action-packed qualifying session at Zolder this morning. Cliffe traded places at the top of the time sheets with Alice Powell, Alex Craven and Henry Chart before securing his spot a handful of laps from the end of the session. After securing a pole position at the last round at Brands Hatch (1-2 June) Cliffe is keen to make better use of the front row position as a poor start cost him dearly there.
Alex Craven was getting consistently faster but came unstuck at Turn 1 after setting his fastest time on lap 11. The marshals were unable to get Craven moving again, and the yellow flags meant that no-one else could set a faster time after that.
Alice Powell and Henry Chart lead the times early on, but neither driver was able to match Cliffe's later pace, with Chart stopping in the pits for a discussion with his Enigma Motorsport engineers. Trophy 01 class runner Dave Karaskas put in a typically solid set of times to finish fifth on the grid, ahead of local man Frank Thomas and his Mark Bailey Racing team mate Nick Robinson. Powell and Thomas both had their fastest laps disallowed as they were set during the yellow flag period, but this did not affect either of their grid positions.
The weekend's first race kicks off at 15:25 UK time, with live timing available via the link at the top of the MSVR website.
