Alice Powell extended her lead at the top of the drivers' standings with victory during today's (Sunday 28 April) round four of the MSVR F3 Cup at Silverstone to make it three wins from four races.
The Mark Bailey Racing driver, who had to settle for second place yesterday to Henry Chart, followed pole-sitter Alex Craven into the first corner but quickly dispatched him through Becketts, pulling away early on to take the chequered flag.
Lanan Racing's Craven, who has suffered with clutch issues this weekend, also lost out to Chart on the opening lap but came home in second after Chart was sadly forced to pull off at Farm Curve on lap four with engine issues - ending a possible repeat of yesterday's battle between Chart and Powell.
Third-place went the way of Louis Hamilton-Smith who endured a lonely race to the final podium spot, while behind Gino Ussi worked his way past Olly Rae on lap seven to take fourth with the Enigma racer also losing out to Tristan Cliffe a lap later through Brooklands to finish sixth and once again take the Trophy Class win.
CDR's Jeremy Timms drove an impressive race to work his way from the back of the grid to finish seventh ahead of privateer David Scott, AW Tracksport's James Cross and 10th place Chris Needham.
Meanwhile, Robbie Watts was unable to show his overtaking skills after he was forced to stop during the green flag lap while Stuart Wiltshire was handed a penalty for a jump start.
Speaking afterwards a delighted Powell said: "With the Toyota engine being quite heavy I've been losing 5mph on the straights so I knew I had to get past [Craven] early on which I did at Becketts. I was struggling to get heat into the tyres but they came to me late in the race and I was able to pull out a gap. It was a shame about Henry as it would have been a good contest."
The next rounds of the MSVR F3 Cup take place at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit on 1-2 June.
