27/02/13 - Challenging the midfield is the target James Ledamun is setting himself after confirming his return to the F3 Cup championship in 2013.
The competitive privateer from Hampshire has been involved in F3 Cup since its inception in 2011 and after another positive season in 2012, he is back for more and eager to make an impression.
Ledamun is hoping to emerge as a real contender in the Trophy 01 Class, which caters for cars constructed between 1997 and 2001. The 38-year-old from Portsmouth has revealed he will enter a 2001 Dallara F3 chassis for at least six of the eight meetings in 2013.
Last season Ledamun began the season competing in the Masters Class, for machinery built from 1980-1996, before switching to the Trophy 01 class for the second half of the campaign. His best finish in the Trophy class came in the final race of the year at the Snetterton 300 circuit where he secured an impressive third place finish.
With the knowledge gained from a respectable 2012 campaign, James is planning on making more of an impact in 2013.
Ledamun said: "F3 Cup is a great championship to be a part of and I'm really looking forward to the new season. Last year the Trophy 01 Class was extremely competitive and now I have got on top of the new car I hope to be challenging the midfield and building on the progress I made towards the end of last season."
The F3 Cup championship will head to Cheshire's Oulton Park on April 1 for the first round of the season where it will share the bill with the popular British GT Championship.
