Lanan hoping for two cars in top six with new recruit Headlam

Radical Clubman's Cup racer Chris Headlam is making his debut in F3 Cup next weekend (27-28 July) at Brands Hatch GP, joining Lanan Racing to partner championship hopeful Alex Craven.

Headlam has a wealth of experience racing in Britcar in a Lotus and drives for Lanan Racing in the Clubman's Cup, currently sitting just outside the top six in the championship standings. His son Daniel runs with Lanan Racing in BRDC Formula 4 Championship and will also be in action during the weekend.

Graham Johnson, Lanan Racing Team Principal, said: "Chris races with us in a Radical and he has a Lotus in Britcar which we prepare. His son drives in F4 with us too. The engine's gone in his Britcar and he's always looked at F3 Cup so we said to him he should just give it a try and he finally is. He'll no doubt fall in love with the car.

"He's quick in the Radical so we reckon a top six finish is on. We're testing at Snetterton on Friday and Alex Craven will be there to help him out. He's never driven an open-wheeler before so he's a little wary of that but he'll be up to speed after 10 laps or so. Alex Lynn is with us on Friday coaching our F4 guys so he'll no doubt offer him and Alex some tips. After all, it's the car Alex won in at Spa last year in F3 Cup."

Lanan team-mate Alex Craven currently sits second in the standings, and Lanan sit second in the Teams' standings behind the four-pronged Mark Bailey Racing.

Joining F3 Cup on the timetable will be the headlining BRDC Formula 4 Championship, as well as Champion of Brands, SPEED Euro Series and MSA British Endurance Championship.
