Cliffe and Omicron Motorsport hungry for more titles in 2013 F3 Cup Championship

Omicron Motorsport intend to defend their Teams' Championship title and challenge for the drivers crown after confirming Tristan Cliffe's entry into the 2013 F3 Cup Championship.

The family run squad from Norfolk joined the MSVR-run championship last season and turned heads by claiming the inaugural Teams' Championship title. After such an impressive debut, they are hungry for even more silverware with team owner and driver, Cliffe, leading the line.

Tristan was arguably the most consistent driver of the 2012 crop as he picked up points in 16 of the 18 races, which included four class victories on his way to the Cup Class title. The 31-year-old narrowly missed out on the overall title by just three and a half points and this is something he is eager to rectify this year.

The multiple Monoposto 2000 champion is hoping his title aspirations will be aided by the addition of a new car after acquiring a Mugen Honda powered Dallara F307 in the off season. Cliffe feels he has learned a lot from his debut season in F3 Cup and is already setting himself bold targets from the outset in 2013 for both himself and the Omicron Motorsport team.

Cliffe said: "I'm delighted to be returning to F3 Cup as we had a great year in 2012 and long may it continue. Last year was very much a learning curve for me and the team. Although 2012 was a very successful year for the team, we are never satisfied with our results. I feel I can attack from the outset now and I want to be pushing for podiums from the first race and start a push towards the championship crown.

"Jay Bridger proved that the Toyota powered car I drove last season is every bit as quick as anything else out there, but I hope the new Mugen Honda car I have will be better suited to my driving style now I have gained more F3 experience."

The F3 Cup Championship will head to Cheshire's Oulton Park for the opening round of the 2013 season on April 1, where it will race alongside the prestigious British GT Championship.

Omicron Motorsport are hoping to field a second car to compete in the 18 race championship. For more information, visit www.omicronmotorsport.co.uk or email racing@omicronmotorsport.co.uk.
