Powell keeps Craven at bay to return to the top step

Alice Powell held off a watchful Alex Craven to take her first win and podium of the weekend around Brands Hatch Indy.

Alice Powell held off a watchful Alex Craven to take her first win and podium of the weekend around Brands Hatch Indy.

The championship's top two were inseperable throughout but Powell ensured the door was firmly shut during the 20 minute race two. Tristan Cliffe had started on pole but wheelspin was met with bogging down on the grid and he entered Paddock Hill Bend in fourth behind Powell, Craven and Hamilton-Smith.

The next 20 minutes didn't quieten down for Cliffe, fighting hard with Hamilton-Smith looking for a way past. A look round the outside of Druids resulted in a touch of contact and a brush with the grass but he recovered to get straight back onto Hamilton-Smith's tail. Another off-track excursion required a trip though the pits to reset the car leaving him a lap down but he fought back yet again with some fastest laps to take sixth late on.

Hamilton-Smith was afforded some breathing room but after a trip off-road of his own he was left to crawl back to finish up in the pits. That all left David Scott to collect himself a lonely third place.

Mark Harrison spent much of the race all over the back of Mark Bailey Racing's Stuart Wiltshire. Dave Karakas soldiered on despite being under the weather to come home seventh behind Robbie Watts. Neil Harrison finshed up ninth.
