Championship leader Alice Powell came away from race one at Brands Hatch happy with another haul of points, especially with title rival Alex Craven finishing behind in fourth.

The third place finish stretches her lead at the top, and she knows consistency will be the key to maintaining her hunt for the F3 Cup title.

After the race, she said: "A podium's a podium and for the championship it's racking up the points. I'm not too sure where Alex finished. It was just watching the guys behind and making sure that I was consistent."

Conditions didn't make things easy, but she appeared to be most at ease in the changing conditions. The problem was trying to find a way past without risking the points that appeared to be safely in her pocket.

"It was a good race; I haven't enjoyed this circuit in the wet. I just couldn't find a way a past, I think we had the pace I just couldn't find a way through. Once I got up behind the others through the back, and I did try once going through Druids, I just couldn't get a way through. It was disappointing, but I am happy with third. Points make prizes so I've got to be consistent."

Race two should be dry, but that's not what Powell wanted to hear. "I'd like to see a bit more rain tomorrow, whether it will or not and I don't think it will. But, this is British weather so who knows. It would have been fun to stay on slicks or rain during the race, that would have been quite exciting. I'm glad for a bit of a change, wet weather racing isn't too bad!"

Race two starts at 12.35 on Sunday, and Alice Powell will line up on the second row of the grid in third place.
