Scott Temple bolsters F3 Cup line up

Formula Ford 2000 front-runner Scott Temple is to become the latest driver to join the F3 Cup grid after teaming up with Deane Performance. He'll pilot the 1996 Toms machine, previously driven by James Ledamun (pictured), with Frazer Deane of Deane Performance managing the extensive rebuild.

The squad is set to debut at the next round of F3 Cup at Brands Hatch Indy on 1st and 2nd June, though they had intended to be on the opening grid of the season at Oulton Park in April. Not having the car ready for the first two rounds has meant Temple and Deane Performance are using 2013 to learn the car and ensure they're well set for a full season assault in 2014.

"We need more running in the car really but have run out of time before the next round. We will have to go out fairly cold and use the first race as an extended test day." said Temple. Running has so far been limited to a shakedown test at Silverstone Stowe and a weather-hampered test at Brands Hatch.

"From the limited driving I have done so far I love the feel of an F3 car but it feels completely different to cars I am used to driving. The car is a lot stiffer and quicker, I'm confident I can learn the car and drive it quickly. But as to how we will compare to the more modern Dallaras I have no idea until we get out there."

Their feet are firmly on the ground, and expectations are realistic, but Temple is obviously keen to get behind the wheel of the Toms.

"If we can enjoy ourselves, keep the car in one piece, finish the race and learn a bit along the way then that's all we can ask for at Brands. We are not aiming to be overnight Lewis Hamiltons - just out to enjoy our racing and get the maximum out of the package we have."

"We are just so enthusiastic about this car as it's such a rare and beautiful machine. Deane Performance has spent endless hours on the car and rebuilt it to a stunning level. It looks and is built to the standard of an early 90s Formula One car"
