Six poles in six for Cliffe

Tristan Cliffe took his sixth pole position in a row after dominating the 25 minute session at round six on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Tristan Cliffe took his sixth pole position in a row after dominating the 25 minute session at round six on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

Louis Hamilton-Smith starts second after dislodging championship leader Alice Powell with his final lap of the session which leaves Powell alongside her championship rival Alex Craven on the second row.

Powell was the driver to beat in the early stages, and Alex Craven did just that with his first flying lap of the session. Cliffe then joined his fellow championship hopefuls by becoming the first to dip below 2:02 minutes and settled in as the car to beat.

As Powell put in consistently quick lap times, she matched Cliffe's time to the thousandth. But as Cliffe came round, he went even quicker to make pole his own and edge nearer to the time set by Jay Bridger in 2012. That was soon dispatched, and the Omicron racer became the only driver in the two minutes flat lap times.

Powell looked all the while set to join Cliffe for on the front row until Eyehub F3's Louis Hamilton-Smith ended his session with an impressive flourish. He'd been building his pace as the session went on and had threatened to get himself onto the front row a couple of laps previous. He picked his time perfectly, leaving Powell without the chance to reply.

Henry Chart shadowed the times of the top four throughout and will start fifth for Enigma Motorsport, setting a time seven tenths slower than Lanan Racing's Craven in fourth. Mark Harrison denied James Cross a top six start late on to pinch sixth from the AW Tracksport racer.

Trophy 01 Class leader Dave Karaskas starts eighth and on Trophy Class pole from Olly Rae of Enigma Motorsport. Just 0.112s split the pair by the time clock ticked to zero.

Chris Headlam rounds out the top ten in only his second ever open-wheel round while behind was decided by just 0.007s. Nick Robinson was the happiest of the two, beating Tony Bishop to 11th place while Jonathan Weston-Taylor starts 13th, with Neil Harrison 14th.
