Ussi and Craven spearhead Lanan Racing's F3 Cup bid

14/03/13 - Lanan Racing confirm Ussi and Craven F3 Cup title push.

14/03/13 - Lanan Racing are aiming to extend their impressive record in the F3 Cup championship in 2013 after confirming Gino Ussi and Alex Craven for the new season.

The Bedfordshire-based team are no strangers to the F3 Cup podium as they racked up an impressive 10 victories during the 2012 season. With last season's title contender Ussi and F3 Cup podium finisher Craven on board, the squad are confident of further success this year.
After coming so close to becoming the inaugural F3 Cup champion in 2012, the experienced Italian racer Ussi is even hungrier for glory this term behind the wheel of a Dallara F305/7. The former ARP F3 champion made a slow start to the 2012 campaign but he soon hauled himself into contention with a string of podium finishes before falling just shy of the title at Snetterton finale in October. With the disappointment of last year firmly put behind him, the 53-year-old from Berkshire is already setting his sights high in 2013.

Gino Ussi said: "Without doubt I'm definitely hungrier for success after last year. I'm in it to win it as they say and after last year I think I need to string a full season together. I thoroughly enjoyed racing in F3 Cup last season and I'm very impressed with how Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision Racing group have turned it around."

Joining Ussi at Lanan in a VW Dallara F307 is ex-Formula Renault driver Craven. The 30-year-old from Cornwall will bring a wealth of experience to the grid after recording wins and podiums in BRSCC F3, Formula Renault and F3 Cup - with nine poles, four wins, eight podiums and six fastest laps in the 2010 season of BRSCC F3. Craven has also tried his hand at sports car racing with a strong campaign in the FIA SPEED EuroSeries in 2011 with Lanan, along with some rounds of VLN and Britcar. Alex kept a close eye on the F3 Cup in 2012, and after a season away he is eager for success.
Alex Craven said: "I'm really looking forward to returning to F3 Cup, with a focus on winning the championship. I secured podiums every time I raced in F3 Cup, so I hope to pick up where I left off.  The grids have grown since MSV have taken on the championship, and I'm looking forward to fighting for a win at the season opener at Oulton Park."
Lanan Team boss Graham Johnson said: "We thoroughly enjoyed our time in F3 Cup last year and we hope to have the same impact in 2013 with Gino Ussi and Alex Craven. The championship is going from strength-to-strength and with Gino and Alex joining us this year we hope to be challenging for both Drivers' and Teams' titles."

The F3 Cup championship will head to Cheshire's Oulton Park on April 1 for the first round of the season where it will share the bill with the popular British GT Championship.
