Chart delighted with overdue win

Henry Chart ended a 12 month win-drought with a commanding performance at Snetterton in the penultimate round of the championship.

Chart hasn't had the best of luck this season, even spinning from the lead twice at Oulton Park and Silverstone. But after dominating Snetterton qualifying, Chart cruised away at the front of the field for a comfortable, overdue win. His last win came at the final race of 2013, also at Snetterton, making it exactly a year since he last visited the top step of the podium.

"It's been bit too long of a wait for the win, if you ask me." Chart admitted. "We always knew we were going to be quick, it was just a case of putting it all together.

"It was a nice drive. I needed to get a good start, which I did, and I was able to just drive away from there and hold the gap at about five seconds. It's been a perfect day, even getting pole for the next race with fastest lap. I don't think I've ever had such an easy race."

Chart scored maximum points, with the pole, win, and fastest lap. Once he thought the win was secure, he had eyes on taking the lap record away from Aaron Steele, set in 2011, who made his return to the championship this weekend.

"Once I was out front I was going to go for the lap record but it wasn't on. It might be for Sunday's race, but I don't know if the track was there. I pulled out and did one quick lap but then just held it there."

Battery issues were the only real threat to Chart. He stopped in testing with a discharged battery and was praying the gremlins didn't return. A flashing battery light gave him a scare, but not even the battery could deny him.

Henry Chart starts on pole for the final race of the season, round 16. Alice Powell joins him on the front row ahead of Tristan Cliffe and Louis Hamilton-Smith.
