A thrilling Brands Hatch round 11 was won by Tristan Cliffe after passing Toby Sowery with one lap to go.
Henry Chart completed the podium places after coming out on top of a battle with Hamilton-Smith, who took fourth ahead of the somewhat lonely Oliver Rae and Lee Morgan. The fight for seventh was three-cars strong but it was Mark Harrison who crossed the line first. Jonathan Weston-Taylor and Stuart Wiltshire crossed the line just a tenth apart after a late spin each in eighth and ninth.
Nick Robinson and Omicron Motorsport newcomer Jacopo Sebastiani battled all race for a spot in the top 10 and Robinson's late move stole 10th. Geoffrey Hoodless rounded out the field in his Masters 96 Class March.
The best of the starts was Chart's, jumping from fourth to second, and almost the lead at Paddock Hill. Sowery covered the move and led into the GP loop for the first time. Chart lost out under braking to Cliffe at Hawthorns, starting two thrilling battles.
The battle at the front came to a head with barely a handful of laps to go after Cliffe closed and closed on the championship leader. Sowery broke the lap record, which was then bettered by Cliffe just a few laps later. The pair took to Paddock Hill and Druids side-by-side, but Sowery led through Surtees. Cliffe's exit was the better and they entered Hawthorns just inches apart. The final blow was dealt by Cliffe at the exit and he held on by just 0.111s.
Hamilton-Smith hounded Chart for third in the opening before his tyres fell away and he dropped back. Oliver Rae and Lee Morgan took comfortable fifths and sixths.
Mark Harrison's seventh place belied a superb three-car battle only interrupted by late spins for Weston-Taylor and Wiltshire. The trio traded places all race, and Weston-Taylor crossed the line just a tenth ahead of ninth-placed Wiltshire.
Sebastiani was made to work hard on his debut in an entertaining battle with Robinson. He thwarted the advances lap after lap, until the final few when Robinson finally made it past. Geoffrey Hoodless, racing in the oldest car ever to race in F3 Cup, rounded out the classification.
Cliffe starts round 12 on pole after setting the fastest lap. Sowery starts second, Chart third and Hamilton-Smith fourth.
