Demanding Spa Francorchamps next stop for MSV F3 Cup
MSV F3 Cup drivers set to battle around the legendary Belgian circuit
09/06/2011 - The demanding Spa Francorchamps circuit awaits MSV F3 Cup drivers for the latest round of the series this weekend (11/12 June).
The MSV F3 Cup cars will join the Austria F3 Cup drivers to make up a huge 50 car grid set to compete around one of the world's most challenging and exhilarating circuits. Two energy sapping 25 minutes races around the famous Belgian venue will face the drivers this weekend.
The MSV F3 grid will be bolstered by the addition of two new drivers in Irishman Paul Dagg and Belgian Frank Thomas. Dagg brings a wealth of single-seater experience with him, after winning the Irish Formula Ford Championship in 1999. Veteran racer Thomas has joined Mark Bailey Racing and is expected to take part in several MSV F3 Cup meetings this season.
Series co-ordinator Simon Davey said: "I think we will have one of the biggest ever grids for F3 cars at Spa, so I'm delighted. To have 50 single-seaters racing will be some sight. The Monoposto Racing Club has been coming to Spa for a few years now and it is one of the highlights of the season. It's not just a race meeting but a social occasion too."
With the legendary 4.4-mile Belgian circuit a new prospect for the majority of the field, an unpredictable race is expected. Kent racer Aaron Steele has been the dominant force in the MSV F3 Cup heading into the Spa round, with four wins from six races, but he will face a tough battle to continue his form this weekend.
