Stanbridge Motorsport confirms F3 Cup assault
Stanbridge Motorsport has announced its driver line-up for the 2015 F3 Cup season
Stanbridge Motorsport has announced its driver line-up for the 2015 F3 Cup season, with Lee McCrumlish joining team boss James Simons.
McCrumlish competed at last year's Silverstone round in a Masters Class Dallara F395. He will return in the same car this year.
McCrumlish said: "It was always my intention to get back into racing after doing a bit of karting in the late 90s as a teenager. I started again in Monoposto racing a Formula Renault with Stanbridge Motorsport in 2012 at Brands Hatch, then with sporadic races through 2013 and 2014. I made my F3 Cup debut in the Masters Class with my Dallara F395 at Silverstone last season.
"I think F3 Cup is a great championship to be in as the cars are great to drive and we go to some great tracks as well. As I'm still relatively new to Motorsport the aim for this year is to carry on learning but also to be competitive in my class and get in as many races as possible. I'm in the Masters class with my Dallara F395, again with Stanbridge Motorsport, and hopefully with more cars in Masters this year we should have some good racing."
Team boss Simons will race a Dallara F307 in the Cup Class. He last raced in the championship in 2012 with a Dallara F396, picking up a double class win at Silverstone National and podium places at Spa-Francorchamps. Since then he has concentrated on his role as Team Manager, running a number of newcomers in the championship.
"I am really looking forward to another year in F3 Cup," he said. "I think it is a brilliant championship and try to do what I can to support it and get more cars on the grid. I have really missed being out on track but last year was spent focusing on expanding the team and moving to our new facility near Snetterton. It is also great to welcome back Lee McCrumlish, he seems really enthusiastic and focused towards this season so we will make sure he has an enjoyable one. I am also still in discussions with other drivers so we will see how that unfolds.
"My main focus is on a team result, so although I'm looking forward to getting back out on track and competing, supporting my customers comes first. We have a very busy programme this year also supporting Monoposto, French Formula Ford and other Historic Events."
