The F3 Cup cars ventured onto the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit for the first time this weekend, to complete a 15 minute qualifying session.

Aaron Steele immediately hit the top of the times, with a lap time of 44.613. However, the session was red flagged after just three minutes, when the unfortunate Lee McCrumlish found himself in the Paddock Hill Bend gravel trap.

Once the session resumed, it was Jacopo Sebastiani who first threatened Aaron Steele's pole position, closing to within three tenths, before dropping to third in the times. It was Louis Hamilton-Smith who would provide the closest challenge throughout the remainder of the session. As tyre temperatures rose, the lap times dropped and Hamilton-Smith narrowed the gap to Steele, but could never quite overhaul the local man.

Tony Bishop had an interesting session battling for fourth on the grid with Chris Dittmann Racing team mate Stuart Wiltshire. The pair each held the position at various points throughout the session, but Bishop edged out Wiltshire to secure fourth on the grid at the chequered flag.

Ashley Crossey, making his first appearance in F3 Cup, secured a strong sixth on the grid, ahead of Daniel Tapinos and Oulton Park victor Henry Chart, who appeared to be battling engine trouble. Series returnee Frank Thomas qualified ninth, with Lee McCrumlish completing the grid in tenth.

With the top 5 covered by just half a second, the racing is sure to be action packed!
