F3 Cup driver Tony Bishop will return for a fifth campaign in Britain's only championship for modern Formula 3 cars this season.
Dunstable-based Bishop made his F3 Cup debut with Omicron Motorsport in 2011 before moving to Chris Dittmann Racing (CDR) two seasons later. He scored a best finish of fourth place in last year's opening round at Snetterton, his favourite circuit, on his way to a top ten championship position.
Bishop returns with the CDR squad and will contest the season in his Cup Class Dallara-Mercedes F307, having briefly considered a switch to the newer F308. He will be setting his sights on a maiden podium finish in the championship.
Tony said: "The support from CDR, car preparation and coaching has been faultless, and this has been the foundation for good and steady progress, so it was an easy decision to stay. There is so much more to come from the current Mercedes-engined car, and Stuart [Wiltshire] joining the team shall add to the competition and benefit us all."
Bishop, who made his motorsport debut in MSVR's Monoposto championship in 2010, added that F3 Cup's mix of aspiring professionals and amateur drivers has also aided his development: "A progression to regular podiums is my target, but it will be a tough task as the standard of drivers in F3 Cup continues to evolve. It's a fascinating mix of drivers; if you review last season Toby [Sowery, 2014 champion] raised the level, but by the end of the season Tristan Cliffe, Henry Chart and Louis Hamilton-Smith had closed the gap, and it was the same in the midfield."
The 2015 F3 Cup season kicks off at Oulton Park on 6th April. If you are interested in joining the action, please contact championship coordinator Simon Davey on 07770 368648, email email@example.com. For all the latest news and further announcements visit www.f3cup.co.uk.
