The Champion Returns
Jacopo Sebastiani will return to defend his title in 2018
Reigning champion Jacopo Sebastiani will defend his title in 2018, with the aim of becoming the first driver to win back-to-back F3 Cup championships.
Jacopo began his racing career in karting, both in his native Italy and across Europe. Early dabbles in single seater racing, and later prototypes and GT racing, lead him to F3 Cup in 2015. Joining the championship with double Teams’ Champions Omicron Motorsport, Jacopo has had a strong career in Formula 3; finishing fourth overall in 2015 and sixth overall in 2016, before claiming the title in 2017 after a spectacular year with CF Racing.
Only one of the 18 races in 2017 was missing Jacopo in the top four, as he picked up 14 podium results over the season. While consistency was key, his outright pace was never in question, earning not one, but two Sunoco Fastest Lap of the Weekend awards.
The competition will be looking to keep Jacopo from retaining his hard-fought title, but with his race-craft on point, his trusty Dallara F311 VW Speiss in fine fettle and current Teams’ Champions CF Racing fighting his corner, they will definitely have their work cut out trying to pass the car carrying that revered #1.
F3 Cup’s 2018 season kicks off at the revamped Donington Park circuit on 21-22 April. Regular driver announcements will be made in the lead up to the first rounds, so be sure to keep an eye on the refreshed F3 Cup website and social media channels for all the latest news.
